Make shipping your belongings to the United Kingdom easier on yourself:
Rent or purchase a residence before you move.
Having floor plans – room sizes, hallway, elevator and / or stairway dimensions – will help you determine what to include in your shipment to the UK.
You may just have to leave oversized pieces like pianos or wall sectionals in the USA.
Without pre-arranged living quarters, you will probably want to base your choices on pieces that bring you comfort and are necessary for your well being.

Helpful Hints:

  • Contact IntlMOVE UK three months prior to your UK move date for a free estimate.
  • Know what you want to ship to the UK.
  • Inventory your belongings; assign each item with a U.S. dollar value for insurance coverage.
  • Put all necessary documentation (passports, green-cards, visas / inoculation records if required) and valuables together to take with you – do not pack these docs with your shipment.
  • Have invoices on-hand for new purchases.
  • For contact and shipment status purposes, we will need your UK phone number, email address and land address.
  • Read UK Customs information on our website for basic guidelines and general information.
  • Regulations can be changed without notification: understand your rights under Customs requirements.  Stay in touch with the UK Embassy and / or Consulate’s Office for up-dates.

Items Recommended Not to Ship

  • Personal important papers such as: birth certificates; marriage license; financial data; family documents, passports, green-cards, visas and inoculation records of required.
  • Jewelry
  • Fire Arms (check for licensing requirements)
  • Live Plants or Seeds (license is required in some countries)
  • Open bottles containing any liquids or other contents
  • Flammable cleaning solutions/toxic liquid substances
  • Alcohol (in hand luggage only)
  • Pressure spray cans
